ABOUT NHLX
Welcome to my little labor of love for EHM - the NHLX project. I've been playing EHM since the freeware days and have been editing databases and toying with the game structure for over a decade now. I have released some databases in the past at TBL including the first Vegas-moded database years before that team actually took the ice, the first playable NCAA league database and a variety of expanded universe databases like NHL36. NHLX represents my first release in several years and is a evolution of those initial concepts.

The initial question is always, "is this based off the TBL/Pivot" rosters. And the answer is a "no, not at all". That's not to say that as database tinkerers that we don't share thoughts and ideas and occasionally riff on each others work and progress. But this database diverged from the original TBL rosters way back in 2012 and hasn't been merged or integrated with anybody else's work since then. So at this point - it is basically a 100% different database than TBL/Pivot...different ratings, different player pool and different priorities. That's not to say you won't feel a lot of it the same way since both are based on reality. But I can guarantee a different experience. And since the NHLX database offers a different take on things - I do not consider the two databases to be in competition in any way.

Rather than give you a long-winded description of the database I have created this website to show off some of the features and encourage you to download it and take it for a test sim. But simply put I like to say it is "the REAL hockey world. REIMAGINED."
In other words - leagues, teams, players, prospects, ratings - they are all constantly updated and reflect reality...but with some twists here or there. Some leagues are expanded a bit. Some leagues are consolidated into stronger regional leagues. Lots of new domestic cups. A broader international hockey scene with new nations, friendlies and tournaments. It's still the hockey world you are familiar with...it isn't a complete fantasy redraw of reality. But it is a chance to try out some fun new scenarios:

- Guide the Quebec Nordiques in their return to the NHL from expansion pains all the way to Cup glory...or choose one of the other three new clubs in the NHL.

- Take charge at a club like Frolunda and win the new Europa Super League title, besting the biggest and most well-supported clubs Europe has to offer. Then go for the double by winning the Lidstrom Cup to reign at home over all your traditional domestic foes. And heck, why not go for that amazing treble by concluding the season with a win in the Kings of Europe Cup over the KHL winners and CHL champs.

- Try your hand at the NCAA with a school like the Illinois Fighting Illini who have added hockey and compete in the powerful Big Ten. You'll have to stay sharp on the recruiting trail to outdo powers like Michigan and Minnesota on your way to Frozen Four dreams.

- Take control of a club in the revised Russian hockey pyramid. HK Sochi may have been kicked down a level from the slimmed-down KHL but now you'll have a chance to win the VHL, to play in the CHL against top teams in Europe and you'll have a chance at revenge against those snobby rich KHL powers by beating them in the Makarov Cup.

- Take charge of a minnow nation internationally. I heard Thailand are looking for a new manager! Get to know your nation thru yearly rotating international friendlies. Guide them from the lowest run of the World Championship ladder to the big time. And show your national rivals you mean business by besting them in the Southern Asia Championships.

These are just some examples of scenarios and the richer, more interesting hockey world I'm attempting to create with NHLX. So jump in and let me know what you think!
